Federal Work Study (FWS)
Federal Work Study (FWS)
A federal work program whereby students may work based on financial need up to 10 hours per week while school is in session and up to 40 hours per week when school is between sessions. Students are placed in jobs on campus for regular FWS and off campus for community service FWS. Students are awarded $500 per full term. This program provides employment payment on an hourly basis only. Students will be paid $7.25 per hour.
Unless otherwise notified, students accepting employment should report to Student Services for their job assignment and clearance to work. If there are more eligible students than positions, the program will operate on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. The FWS amount awarded to the student is 75% federal funds and 25% institutional funds. Less-than-half-time students may be considered for a prorated amount if eligible.
