Tony Hamblin 2012 Tennessee Post-Secondary SkillsUSA President

Tennessee Technology Center at Oneida/Huntsville’s Tony Hamblin, a Computer Information Technology student, has been appointed Tennessee’s 2012 SkillsUSA Post-Secondary Presidentat the January 2012 meeting in Athens, Tennessee. Being a state SkillsUSA officer is one of the highest honors a student can achieve. It also can be one of the most rewarding experiences for a student. As an officer, Tony will represent the SkillsUSA Tennessee Post-Secondary Association on both the state and national levels. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  SkillsUSA is an applied method for preparing America’s high performance workers in public careers and technical programs.  It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development.  It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills.  It emphasizes total quality at work:  high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education, and pride in the dignity of work.  SkillsUSA also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement in community service activities.

Tony is the husband of Mechelle Hamblin, and they have four children – Jon, Malaki, Megan, and Cody. He is a retired veteran from the U.S. Army. He plans on continuing his education at the Tennessee Technology Center at Oneida/Huntsville earning Microsoft and Cisco certifications while enrolled in the Computer Information Technology program.
