The Welding program provides the basic techniques of welding processes common in the industry. To prepare for rewarding job opportunities, the student learns specific operations such as flame cutting, grinding, metal preparation, the use of tools and equipment related to welding combined with instruction in related math, physical properties of metal, effects of heat, thickness allowances, shrinkage, basic joint design, layout, and fabrication. Practical work experience prepares the student in the safe use of modern equipment while emphasizing the four basic positions of welding: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. The computer is used to assist the students in learning blueprint reading. The course length is up to 12 months.
