Nursing Compass Entrance Exam

COMPASS is a comprehensive, computer-adaptive testing program that quickly and accurately assesses students' skill levels in reading and mathematics. Because it is adaptive, the length of the test will vary based upon the individuals' knowledge. Please allow up to four (4) hours to take the test. you will receive your scores upon completion of the test.

To Register for the Test:

  1. Complete a Practical Nursing Application or the Online Enrollment Application if you have not already done so.
  2. Test test will be administered on a first come, first serve basis. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 am. Fourteen (14) slots are available for each testing date.
  3. Arrive at least 15 minutes early for the test. The cost of the test is $15 (if you are retesting in one area only, cost is $8); you must remit payment before you will be allowed to test. The test is computerized; therefore, you will not need to bring any materials. Online calculators are available for use during the test (please do not bring a calculator with you).
    *A current, valid driver's license or other photo ID is required to take the test.
    *No cell phones are allowed int he testing area    .

In order to be officially placed on the waiting list, you must obtain the following minimum scores on the COMPASS test:

Subject Required Grade
Mathematics (Pre-Algebra) 50
Reading 80

**If you are under 21 years of age and have taken the ACT, you may not be required to take the COMPASS exam if you scored a minimum of 19 in Math, 19 in Reading, and 19 in English (a 19 composite score is not accepted). You must provide a copy of your ACT scores to the Student Services Coordinator before you will be exempt from the COMPASS test.
