Part Time Programs

Classes are offered on a part-time as needed basis. Applications are accepted continuously. Notifications of class beginning dates are sent by mail prior to class inception. Applicants are admitted from the CNA waiting list on a first-come, first-serve basis. Program length is 100 hours, normally scheduled over a period of six weeks. Day or night classes are scheduled according to interest.

HIGH SCHOOL ONLY CLASS
Mission Statement: To provide technical instruction and skill development to enable the student to become gainfully employed in the health care industry.

This Health Science Technology program is offered to high school juniors and seniors and will introduce these students to the health care industry. Students will learn about different health-related careers and will cover topics such as anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, patient care & skills, CPR & first aid, medical math, etc. Students will choose to work in nursing clinicals or to job shadow another area of the health care field. Those who participate in the clinical area and successfully complete all requirements of the program will be eligible to test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). This program is located at the Oneida extension site at 180 Eli Lane, Oneida, Tennessee.

License Cosmetologists who have a high school diploma or a GED and wish to become certified Cosmetology instructors may enroll in the Junior Instructor training program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Oneida/Huntsville. This program will provide 300 clock hours of training which will be completed within approximately one year. Students will receive a minimum of 100 clock hours of training in lesson planning and motivation and will receive training in practice teaching under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor. 

Program Length (Must already possess Cosmetology license) = 300 Hours Certificate

Class Description: This class is a 40 hour course specifically designed for Allied Health workers who have a desire to learn the clinical skill of Phlebotomy. Students will review universal precautions, safety issues, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and aspects of healthcare settings. Students will receive instruction on laboratory policies, specimen handling/requirements, and venipuncture procedures including vein capillary punctures. This course will include laboratory time for "hands on" training.
